From Humble Beginnings to Industry Leaders

In 1956, a European immigrant named Paul Ekstein established Quality Seeds. With determination and a belief in the power of personal connections, Paul laid the foundation of our company, driving down every laneway and building trust and relationships. This “people buy from people” philosophy continues to be the core of Quality Seeds, now one of Canada’s largest independently owned seed companies.

A Family Legacy

Over the past 25 years, under the leadership of Paul’s son, Ari, Quality Seeds has seen significant growth and innovation. Partnering with the world’s best forage and turf breeding companies, we have established a proprietary lineup of forage and turf seeds, catering to the diverse needs of the turf and agricultural markets nationwide.

Expanding Horizons

Erosion Control and Beyond

In 2008, Ari expanded our reach by acquiring Mulchit Inc., a well-established erosion control company based in Putnam, Ontario. This acquisition granted us access to Profile, a central hydraulic mulch manufacturer, and distribution rights across Canada. In the past 15 years, Quality Seeds has evolved into a significant supplier of Native and Naturalization mixes, now stocking over 350 different species to adeptly service this complex market.
