“Excellent Product, Superior Customer Service!”
“Cow comfort, high-quality forage, and a focus on details have been the plan for operations at Sleegerdale Farms, Belmont, Ontario. Quality Seeds’ alfalfas and grasses have been the basis for a balanced high forage ration that is being fed to a mixed Holstein and Jersey herd. Their focus has been on rumen health, which in turn has led to profitable milk production. Mike has blended Quality Seeds alfalfa along with meadow fescue, tall fescue, and orchard grass to achieve this. With a detailed agronomy plan added to the mix, the results speak for themselves. Feeding the soil, maintaining excellent soil health, executing a detailed harvest plan, and selecting the proper seed for each field have allowed the Sleeger family to reach the high standards that they strive for.”
“Folks here are very nice, a real pleasure to deal with. It is easy to find, easy to get into and easy to back into a door. Not to mention, they can provide excellent advice about seeding your lawn.”

Erosion Control FAQs
To stop erosion on a sloped yard, you can use several methods. Planting ground cover or deep-rooted plants helps stabilize the soil. Installing erosion control mats or blankets provides immediate protection and supports vegetation growth. Terracing the slope or creating retaining walls can also significantly reduce erosion by breaking the hill into smaller, more manageable sections.
Filling an erosion hole involves first stabilizing the area to prevent further erosion. Use pPlant vegetation or use erosion-control fabrics. Then, fill the hole with soil or compost to promote plant growth and compact it lightly to ensure stability.
Gravel can help prevent erosion, especially in areas with light to moderate foot traffic. It provides ground cover, reduces rain impact on the soil, and can help with water drainage. However, gravel alone might not be sufficient on steep slopes or in areas with heavy water flow, and additional erosion control measures might be needed.
Mulch effectively prevents erosion by covering the soil, reducing the impact of raindrops and runoff. Organic mulches like wood chips also improve soil health as they decompose. For slopes or areas prone to heavy rain, heavier mulches or those anchored with a tackifier might be necessary to prevent the mulch from being washed away.
